This concerns the majority of my work. Procurement, delivery, installation and construction of crossing points for roads we have built. Here a nice one that is about half-way done.

A long road we are almost finished with. We construct these roads in the hope that farmland and other important livelihoods will be more accessible in this incredibly fertile region. But since IDPs (refugees) haven't been home for over 15 years because of the war, there is little infrastructure required for the framework of a viable society.
Nobody should be even be have to go hungry in this country....dippin through sorghum fields.

One of my supervisors dropping some knowledge on community members. This is another one of our roads.

Handing over one of the schools we just finished building.

Handover.

The final school constructed under my project...community members checkin out the digs.

Gulu baby.

Afternoon in the neigborhood.

Pece represent.

As you can see, I poorly represented ACTED's football squad. Lets just say the American was relieved after a brief 5 minutes.

Construction of a swamp crossing...its muggy business out here.
Thanks for the update buddy! Am thinking of you back here in cold and rainy New York and subsequently longing for more tropical latitudes such as the one in which you find yourself.
ReplyDeletePrinicipally, thanks for the passages about Uganda's war-torn past - I understand the context in which you work much better now.
Love the pictures too - keep it coming friend.
Miss you, see you in NYC in the not-so-distant future.
